SEVEN ANGELS THEATRE EDUCATIONAL TOURING COMPANY
After 15 years of award winning youth programming at Seven Angels Theatre, an Equity professional regional theatre, is thrilled to announce the Seven Angels Educational Touring Company.
Beginning in October 2007, Seven Angels Educational Touring Company will tour for 4 weeks in the Fall 2007 and four weeks in the Spring of 2008.
Seven Angels Theatre will focus on plays and programs that deal with relevant themes and issues commonly faced by students today. All programs will be appropriate for Grades 6-9.
Starting this Fall Seven Angels Theatre will produce and tour the play In Between written by Princeton University professor R.N.Sandberg.
When a new student, Cue, finds herself choosing between friendships with the popular Tad and the ridiculed Barrett, she discovers the pressures of fitting in. In a world tangled with social pressure and peer disrespect, these three teenagers struggle to find a peaceful remix in the school and themselves. With a record-scratching DJ as the play's conscience, adult role models and a stimulating collage of popular music, this play takes on the fragile identities and emotions that complicate teens' lives.
In Between addresses the issues of peer disrespect, self-esteem and bullying. The play teaches young people that they have options; that they possess the courage needed to effect change in their own lives and in the lives of others.
Each performance includes an interactive post-play workshop that tackles the issues brought up in the play. Study guides will be available for teachers and students.
Length: 70 minutes (includes performance and post-play workshop)
“The play resonates with students... The realism of the play is why the students relate to it." --Home News Tribune (New Jersey)
“The feedback from schools has ranged from very positive to rave! Thanks for sharing your wonderful, thought-provoking play with us." --Lauren Marshall, Producing Artistic Director, Seattle Public Theatre
"It's very empowering. It gets its message across without being preachy. I want every kid in town to see this ... I hope each one of them would have a renewed faith in their ability to stand on their own." --Houston Chronicle
